Thank you for visiting my online office. I practice tax and charity law and represent people all over Canada in matters which primarily involve the Income Tax Act (and related laws).

Many people are confused by the combination of tax and charity law thinking that as charities and not-for-profits are non-taxable entities it is odd that a charity lawyer would also practice tax law. However, the bulk of the federal legislation dealing with charities is contained within the Income Tax Act. So, it is important for charities and not for profits to have a lawyer familiar with the Income Tax Act and dealing with disputes in its application.

My practice provides charities and not-for-profits with advice on how to handle a range of issues, including registration as a charity, structuring of donations, and dispute resolution with the CRA (from audit all the way to the Court level). I also help international organizations establish a base in Canada through the creation and registration of “Canadian Friends of …” groups.
